Why homeopathy instead of conventional medicine?

Homeopathy has been described as a system for treating diseases based on the administration of minute doses of a drug that in massive amounts produces symptoms in healthy individuals similar to those of the disease itself.

Allopathy on the other hand, is a method of treating disease with remedies that produce effects different from those caused by disease itself.

Therefore, if a person suffers from a headache, the homeopath will prescribe a substance which, in a well person, will cause a headache of the same characteristics while an allopathic doctor will treat the same headache with a substance which causes effects different from a headache.

Homeopathy is used by hundreds of millions of people all around the world because of its low-cost and nontoxic effects. It is effective in treating all kind of illnesses particularly chronic illnesses that fail to respond to conventional treatment.

Homeopathy can help with a number of conditions:

General:

(1) Asthma/Bronchitis (2) Pulmonary diseases/ pneumonia (3) Gastritis/Ulcer (4) Circulatory disorders (5) Thyroid disorders (6) Kydney disorders (7) Liver disorders (8) Autism (9) Allergies (10) Irritable bowel syndrome (11) Ulcerative colitis/ Crohn´s disease (12) Indigestion (13) High blood pressure (14) Migraines  (15) Palpitations (16) Side effects from medication

Rheumatoid and neurology:

(1) Arthritis (2) Back pain (3) Gout (4) Neuralgia (5) Sciatica (6) Strokes (7) Multiple Sclerosis (8) Myasthenia gravis

Dermatology:

]]>

(1) Acne (2) Eczema (3) Psoriasis (4) Herpes (5) Cold sores (6) Skin infections

(7)  Skin allergies

Ear, nose and throat:

(1) Hay fever (2) Vertigo (3) Tinnitus (4) Laryngitis (5) Rhinitis (6) Sinusitis

(7) Otitis (8) Tonsillitis

Gynecological:

(1)  Irregular periods (2) Premenstrual disorders (3) Amenorrhea (4) Dysmenorrheal (5) Menopause (6) Cystitis (7) Thrush (8) Vaginal discharges (9) Endometriosis (10) Infertility (11) Pelvic inflammatory disorders (12) Fibroids (13) Ovarian cysts

Emotional

(1) Anxiety (2) Panic attacks (3) Depression (4) Insomnia (5) Eating disorders (6) Grief

(7) Stress (8) Fears (9) Irritability (10) self confidence

Homeopathy is also suitable for acute conditions such as viral infections, upset stomach, headaches, coughs and colds.

Homeopathy restores health safely and permanently; while allopathy (conventional medicine) is used to suppress symptoms thinking that a symptom is the disease and the problem, homeopathy looks at the symptom as an expression of a condition that the body is fighting. The homeopath will choose a remedy that will cause the body to activate itself restorative mechanism and overcome the disorder.

Homeopathy could be described as an art more than as a science because homeopaths develop a great intuition and insight to get all the symptoms with accuracy, as an example, when someone suffers of headache it could have many variants so the homeopath has to patiently look for the exact symptoms to treat to be sure that the remedy chosen is the correct for that patient.

After all the experience developed through the years and the search for improvement, homeopathic doctors now are sure that they have to take into consideration, as very important symptoms, the emotional and spiritual state of the patient, meaning that these kind of symptoms are essential to the physical aspect of the patient, as a difference with the allopaths, which failure comes, simply from their lack of consideration of this important aspect of our lives.

In addition, if we compare both therapeutics, we will find that in most chronic diseases and many acute ones, conventional treatment merely covers up the symptoms, while homeopathy covers the totally of them.

Homeopathy can cure many chronic conditions that regular doctors only medicate.

Conventional treatment causes adverse side effects, including long-term disabilities while homeopathy restores health safely.

Homeopathy is perfectly safe because it gives customized medicines which are selected on the basis of the individual’s symptoms, not on the condition, in very small doses.

Homeopathy helps the body to heal itself and can be used to prevent getting sick.

Homeopathy is cheaper in the short and long term because it cures. Many conditions in conventional medicine will require you to be on medication for the rest of your life, with routine blood test to make sure that you are not suffering from the side effects of the drug.

The Use of Homeopathy in Pediatric Medicine

Homeopathy and pediatrics is a combination that many are not accustomed to thinking about explicitly. In fact, homeopathy is regularly used to treat children throughout many parts of the developed world. Although most know very little about homeopathic medicine, following Chinese medicine, homeopathy is the second most prevalent branch of medicine on the planet.

Homeopathy is used to treat diseases in children ranging from semi-serious illnesses to the common cold. Although homeopathy works in a number of ways, its most basic function is to help strengthen and focus a child’s immune system when they are sick based on the symptoms and root cause of the ailment. Once their own immune systems become stronger, they are able to fight off diseases more effectively.

What makes homeopathy particularly suited to pediatrics is that the medicine is often sweet and appealing, and has little to no side effects. The pleasant taste combined with the low incidence of side effects such as nausea or drowsiness, ensures that the child will be more likely to take the medication on a regular basis.

Typical Applications of Homeopathy in Pediatrics

Homeopathic treatment usually falls into two categories; either acute or chronic conditions. Acute conditions refer to a sick child that is suffering from such illnesses as colds, sore throats, or the stomach flu. Chronic conditions refer to ailments such as allergies, asthma or any number of skin diseases.

]]>

Whether dealing with acute or chronic conditions in children, homeopathy has proven to be quite effective. In the case of acute conditions, parents often can treat the child at home with homeopathy. However, in the case of chronic conditions, meeting with a well-trained homeopathic professional may be necessary to treat the child.

Over the Counter Products

Parents who choose to treat children with an acute condition at home may consider a home prescription kit with homeopathic remedies in 12c or 30c concentrations. Home prescription kits containing homeopathic remedies can be brought online or at stores and range from to 0 dollars. Many homeopathic products are available as over the counter medicines.

Parents can also purchase manuals and books on homeopathy for under .

Homeopathic medicines are free of artificial colors and chemicals and are usually considered safe for infants and children.

Homeopathic medicines come in pills and liquid form. The medicine that is prescribed depends on three things: the type of medicine that is being given, its strength, and the condition of the patient.

Some Other Interesting Facts about Homeopathy

·Homeopathy is based on clinical and experimental data.

·The founding father of homeopathy was Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), a German physician, who developed the basic principles of homeopathy in the late 1700s.

·Homeopathy is recognized by medical professionals and government agencies including the U.S. Food and Drug Association (FDA), and is regulated as medicine.

·Sugar pills are commonly used as a binding agent in homeopathic medicine and as carriers for the medicine.

·Homeopathy uses the principles of dilutions to achieve extremely low concentrations of high potency herbal and other remedies.

·Homeopathic medicine can work fairly fast in acute cases. In chronic cases, the medication works at a slower pace.

·When a person is uses homeopathic treatments they should abstain from certain foods like tea, coffee and alcohol.

·Homeopathic medicines are based on naturally occurring remedies, are usually not patented and are therefore cheaper then other types of conventional medicines.

·Homeopathic medicines usually do not have any side effects.

What Is Homeopathy? A Partial History Of This Medicine

The term “homeopathy” comes from the Greek words “homios” and “pathos”, meaning “similar suffering”. “Homeopathy” was first used in 1824 by the German doctor Samuel Friedrich Hahnemann (1755-1843). It is a procedure for treating illness based on the administration of minute doses of a remedy, which, when given to healthy people, produces symptoms similar to those of the illness itself. It is based on “similia similibus curentur”, or “like cures like”.

The remedies are compounded from natural animal, plant, and mineral sources. They undergo a process of dilutions and agitations in order to become potentized. A point of interest is the fact that the higher the dilution, the more potent the remedy becomes. Currently there are thousands of remedies from which to select. There are no artificial pharmaceutical drugs prescribed. Consequently, there are few harmful side-effects from the remedies, which is a big safety factor.

Dr. Samuel Hahnemann was a physician, chemist, linguist, historian of medicine, and scientific visionary. He stopped practicing medicine because he believed that the methods he was taught would do more harm than good. The system at the time was called “allopathic medicine”. Allopathic medicine is the treatment of disease using medicines whose effects are different from those of the disease being treated. It is based on “contraria contrariis”, or “the law of opposites”.

Hahnemann arranged many experiments over many years, and this led him to pen a number of important medical texts, still in use today, including “The Organon of the Medical Art”, published in 6 editions, the last being in 1842. He also wrote “The Chronic Diseases. Their Peculiar Nature and Homeopathic Cure”, published in 1835. His system of medicine became known as Homeopathy. It became popular from the 1830′s to early 1900′s.

Constantine Hering (1800-1880) was considered the founder of American Homeopathy. His greatest work was the 10 volume “Guiding Symptoms”, which was completed in 1895 by Knerr. The Allentown Academy was the first institution of homeopathy, which opened April 10th, 1835. The American Institute of Homeopathy (AIH) was formed in 1844, and was the first national medical organization. The American Medical Association (AMA) was formed in 1847, in response to the spread of homeopathy. Homeopathy was developing quickly, and in 1867 and 1869 two homeopathic colleges were formed in Philadelphia, the “Homeopathic Medical College”, and “The Hahnemann Medical College”. These two schools amalgamated in 1886 to become “The Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital”.

Around the turn of the century, Constantine Hering dies. For the first time in 50 years, homeopaths had no strong leadership. The schools became increasingly divided over philosophical issues, which started the decline of homeopathy. The colleges regressed into the teaching of keynote prescribing, use of conventional medicines, and a lack of philosophy.

In 1909, James Tyler Kent started the “Society of Homeopathicians”, in an attempt to keep homeopathy alive. His established Rules of Practice are:

1)  Only one remedy is to be given at a time.

2)  Remedies must be potentized.

3)  Surgery was only to be performed as stated in Aphorism 186 of the Organon.

4)  Suppression of symptoms by crude medicines, local treatment, or other means, is un-homeopathic.

However, probably the biggest reason for the demise of homeopathy at the turn of the century was the beginning of Modern Medicine. Claude Bernard (1813-1878) was an instigator, and “conventional medicine” grows from theories made by Bernard. He thought that the body is a machine, responding to laws of chemistry and physics. The goal of the physician is not “to restore the sick to health, to cure”, as Hahnemann described, but to destroy, change or remove  the abnormality. This was done using drugs which can manipulate through destruction (anti-biotics, radiation), substitution (thyroid extracts), or inhibition (MAO inhibitors). Medicine becomes increasingly driven by science and specialization.

The biggest difference in comparing Homeopathy and Modern Medicine is that in Modern Medicine, the body is viewed and dissected into bits and pieces, different parts and organ systems. This works very well for physical symptoms. However, modern medicine does not often include the mental and emotional symptoms. Homeopathy sees the body as a complete unit, functioning not only as a sum of its parts, but which also has a “spirit”, a “soul”, or a “life-force”. Therefore, homeopaths put weight on all three; mental, emotional, and physical symptoms. Each person is unique. They try to match the “state” of the patient with the “state” of the remedy. By analyzing the totality of symptoms, they find the remedy which works best for that individual.

In 1910, the “Flexnor Report” closed many homeopathic schools.
By 1925, only 2 remain.
In 1935, all hospitals dropped the word “homeopathic”.
By the 1940′s, the Hahnemann Medical College is the only remaining school.
The 1970′s saw the resurgence of Homeopathy in the U.S.

Homeopathy in Canada

Homeopathy in Canada started in the 1840′s. Two early homeopaths were J. Lillie and J. Lancaster. In the 1850′s there was an act to qualify and license homeopaths. In 1869, Ontario establishes the “College of Physicians and Surgeons”. Homeopaths had 5 members until 1934, then membership dropped to 1.

The 1970′s also saw the resurgence of Homeopathy in Canada.
In 2007, Bill 171, enacted June 4th, 2007, establishes the regulation of Homeopathy in Ontario, and creates “The College of Homeopaths of Ontario”.
Homeopathy is now an integral part of the Health System.
The government is confident that homeopathy plays a valuable and significant role in the provision of health care to patients.

Homeopathy – The Alternative Medicine

Homeopathy is the Science of New Age Healing. The term homeopathy has been derived from Greek words ‘homios’ meaning similar and ‘pathos’ meaning suffering. It is one of the oldest sciences of alternative medicine, the first homeopath medicine having originated nearly 207 years back in Germany. Most of the homeopathy medicines like Belladonna, quinine and all others are derived from plants.

The role of an experienced homeopath is to analyze the full case history of the patient, note down and understand the details of his symptoms and then select the remedy that is the fittest to treat the particular case. Homeopathy principles and medication is arguably the most successful and best treatment till date.

Principles of Homeopathy

1.Homeopathy looks upon symptoms of diseases as a positive sign and the first step to start treatment.

2.Nothing can be taken for granted in the treatment of homeopathy. Full symptoms have to be considered and the case history of the patient needs to be studied by the homeopaths.

3.Homeopathy treatments are individualized. The composition of medicines for no two people suffering from the same disease can be the same.

4.It may also happen that the symptoms of two people are similar, but the reaction of medicines for different individuals is different.

5.The aim of homeopathy treatment is not to control or suppress the symptoms, but to completely cure the person suffering from it.

The Laws of Homeopathy

1.The Law of Similar

This is the principal concept of homeopathy. The concept is that homeopathy treatments are individualized. The composition of medicines for no two people suffering from the same disease can be the same. Moreover, even if the symptoms of two people are similar, reactions of medicine for them might as well be different.

2.The Single Remedy

In the homeopathy treatment, one single medicine is given to the patient at a time. Unlike the synthetic medicines, there is no need to consume several drugs at a single go for a single disease. Moreover, the homeopathy medicine dosage and strength depends upon the individual’s constitution.

3.The Minimum Dose

As far as homeopathy medicine is concerned, a single and small dose is enough strong to create an impact on the diseases and its symptoms. Moreover, homeopathy medicines in their raw forms are very strong and concentrated. The medicines are diluted either with water or ethyl alcohol before giving the same to the patient for his treatment.

4.The Direction of Cure

Homeopathy medicine generally works like this: from a more important organ to a less important organ, from within outward and symptoms that are appeared first disappears in the end.

Are Homeopathy Medicines Safe

Homeopathy medicines have so far been claimed to be the safest; safer than the allopath or the synthetic medicines. It is true that these medicines hardly give rise to any side effects. Homeopaths claim that the medication is safe because the key ingredients are present in minimum quantities.

Very often we come across a rise in symptom or a particular disease with the intake of homeopathy medicine. But it must be remembered that this is the initial reaction of the medication and is a part of the remedial measures.

Precaution in Diet during the Treatment

In homeopathy, the medicine and its effects get absorbed directly by the tongue. As such, while under the homeopath’s treatment, people are generally advised to avoid the intake of raw onions, anything sour, coffee, camphor and others.

Abhishek has been practicing Homeopathy for the last few years. This led him to start the open-to-all forum of Homeopathy on MysticBoard. It is the best place to learn and discuss anything related to homeopathy. Also get advise from the resident doctors.

Prostate Enlargement Sine, Sysmptoms , Treatment in Homeopathic medicine or Homeopathy remedy

where urine is stored. The prostate also surrounds the urethra, the canal through which urine passes out of the body. Scientists do not know all the prostate’s functions. One of its main roles, though, is to squeeze fluid into the urethra as sperm move through during sexual climax. This fluid, which helps make up semen, energizes the sperm and makes the vaginal canal less acidic.

Symptoms- Many symptoms of BPH stem from obstruction of the urethra and gradual loss of bladder function, which results in incomplete emptying of the bladder. The symptoms of BPH vary, but the most common ones involve changes or problems with urination, such as 1.Hesitant, interrupted, weak stream

2.Urgency and leaking or dribbling

3.Frequent urination, especially at night The size of the prostate does not always determine how severe the obstruction or the symptoms will be. Some men with greatly enlarged glands have little obstruction and few symptoms while others, whose glands are less enlarged, have more blockage and greater problems. It is important to tell your doctor about urinary problems such as those described above. In eight out of 10 cases, these symptoms suggest BPH, but they also can signal other, more serious conditions that require prompt treatment. These conditions, including prostate cancer, can be ruled out only by a doctor’s examination.

Complications- 1. Severe BPH can cause serious problems over time. Urine retention and strain on the bladder can lead to urinary tract infections, bladder or kidney damage, bladder stones, and incontinence?the inability to control urination.

 2. If the bladder is permanently damaged, treatment for BPH may be ineffective. Remedies- Homeopathy offers very good treatment for benign prostate hypertrophy. Some of the medicines commonly used for this condition are:

A New Approach to Attention Deficit Disorder: Healing Body and Mind through Ayurvedic Medicine

A New Approach to Attention Deficit Disorder: Healing Body and Mind through Ayurvedic Medicine

San Francisco, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) April 20, 2011

Ayurveda is the world’s oldest and most complete holistic healing modality. Rooted deep in timeless wisdom, Ayurveda is ageless. It has been continually practiced for millennium, passed down from generation to generation, Ayurvedic medicine remains alive, enlightening and healing.

Ayurveda recognizes life as one unified spirit that contains and connects the energy of the universe to the individual soul. Ayurveda sees every life form as a unique combination of matter, spirit and mind. It approaches healing by balancing the elemental forces that make up the physical and spiritual construct of our universe. Ayurveda is the knowledge of how to live, this knowledge brings awareness of our situation here on earth, it is very practical and yet it is profound. Awareness and understanding of our true selves, the environment, and how the two interact. Ayurveda looks at the qualities inherent in all matter, to the energy that pulses through all life.

According Ayurvedic theory, there are three main constitutions make up the body. These constitutions are often referred to as doshas or humors. Every person has a unique dosha, with different combinations of ether, air, fire, water, and earth. These elements combine to make up Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Vata dosha having more air and ether, with pitta being more so fire. Earth and water make up Kapha dosha.

Ayurvedic medicine seeks to recognize the dosha in each person in order to understand any imbalances that may cause disease. By examining the doshic qualities of modern diseases, Ayurveda can balance and heal them. One such ailment that widely affects people today is Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). This disorder was known and treated by Ayurvedic doctors in ancient times, and continues to be treated by Ayurvedic doctors today. By looking at modern and classical Ayurvedic writings to shed light on the causes, we can learn holistic treatments that can heal this disorder. This disorder considered benign by some, is very serious. Millions of people struggle with ADD, and the numbers continue to rise.

Ayurveda pancha karma treatments for ADD should also be considered as part of a successful treatment plan.

For more information about the workshop on ADD offered by the California College of Ayurveda, please visit AyurvedaCollege.com or call 530 478 9100.
