CBC Marketplace – Homeopathy: Cure or Con? Part 2 of 2

For more skeptical coverage of bogus products like homeopathy go to www.skepticnorth.com and www.ottawaskeptics.org Show description: Erica Johnson investigates one of the country’s fastest growing alternative health treatments: homeopathy. Ontario homeopaths are about to become the first province in Canada to regulate homeopathy — lending credibility to this unproven practice. Canada’s leading consumer ally takes a long hard look at the theories, and the remedies. For the first time in Canada, we conduct a test of homeopathic medicines, investigating the science behind these so-called medicines. In light of our results, we ask both the Ontario government and Health Canada why they are lending credibility to the homeopathic industry. Johnson also meets up with a rep from the world’s leading manufacturer of homeopathic medicines, who admits that even the company says how homeopathty works is a mystery. Watch, as we witness a Vancouver group of skeptics (CFI) taking part in a group overdose of homeopathic remedies. Perhaps most disturbing we learn that some homeopaths are treating cancer patients with homeopathic remedies. A leading cancer specialist says there is no role for homeopathy in the treatment of cancer, that it is a “scam that is not evidence-based.”

Homeopathy – science, not ideology Second part

In modern homeopathy violated a whole stream of people speculating on the growing popularity of homeopathy, which is taken without sufficient preparation treated by homeopathic means. I must say that the usual medical education is not enough for the homeopath. From a homeopathic practitioner takes a lot of training than a doctor-allopathist because homeopathy is not narrow specializations. Before the homeopath is a man, as a unified psychophysical monad, not just the sick body – as in allopathy. Do homeopaths is more complex and subtle diagnosis. Determine the human constitution, to identify its characteristics, habits, tastes, inclinations, and on this background, consider the symptoms and to choose the right medicine – much harder than curing a separate body, forgetting the man himself. A homeopath does not tell the patient: “Do you have a sore ear, and I fly eyes – go to another office, but through a long conversation trying to find a disease that lies deeper than its symptoms, namely to influence the elusive nature of the official medicine man, and not suppress symptoms disease. There is a real danger that homeopathy occupy the ignorant and profaned it. Therefore, you must create a system that would check people who intend to engage in homeopathy, regardless of a formal medical education. Homeopath must pass certain examinations and get a diploma on the right treatment.

There is another danger – an accusation of homeopathy in the occult and magic. Unfortunately, some clerics, not understanding what was wrong, falsely deny homeopathy on the basis of such allegations. In part, some of the homeopaths themselves gave rise to the fact that use terminology similar to the occult, such as fluids, astral body, etc. For Hahnemann, despite the fact that he was a Catholic and performed rites of the Catholic Church, allowed some questionable terms in his book “Organon”. Famous Rosicrucian Steiner discredited homeopathy, connecting it with astrology. He used homeopathy in order to popularize its anthroposophical system, although homeopathy as a therapeutic method, or to theosophy, nor anthropology has nothing to do.

]]>

Some modern homeopaths, wanting to take a homeopathic theoretical explanation of its phenomena, create theories, contrary to Orthodox theology and anthropology. Often, these theories have elements of theosophical nature, and it causes anxiety among Orthodox Christians, and especially the clergy. This negative reaction prevents the faithful turn to a homeopathic practitioner, so as not to expose themselves to the impact of occult forces. Therefore, in matters relating to anthropology and philosophy, Orthodox homeopaths should apply to Orthodox theology, and not based on personal opinions, or facts that can be interpreted in different ways. Of course, the position of the clergy who denied for these reasons that homeopathy – invalid: one should first clarify the homeopath, attempting to establish his theories, his mistakes and inconsistencies in Christian doctrine, especially about the human heart, and offer to review and correct such errors. If he refuses to do so, the question may be about nepravoslavii this man, not the whole of homeopathy.

The prosecution of homeopathy in the occult and its rapprochement with the magic – is absurd. For magic is required, at least three conditions: 1. mage-wizard, who has close contact with the demonic world, 2. the existence of spells, mantras, and generally the various references to Satan (which often used the name of Satan in an encrypted form, and spells and charms are accompanied by magical rites), 3. the person against whom a magical force.

Who was the magician in homeopathy? – A doctor who examined the patient or pharmacist, producing drugs? What homeopathic mantras and incantations, spoken homeopaths know? Where they are printed, or they are transmitted orally? In this case, reception in homeopathic society must be accompanied by some sort of initiation, such as entry into occult Union. Surely for almost two centuries, all this could be hidden? Surely none of the homeopaths not confessed before his death in a demonic? The magician turns to a specific person or audience, and homeopathic remedies sold in pharmacies is absolutely free and are prepared mostly by machine.

Homeopaths may belong to different religions, or to be non-believers, and they may have differing philosophical views, or to be skeptics, agnostics – but it applies to their inner world, and not to homeopathy. Homeopathy is practical medicine, based on facts, but to sum it under some theory with elements mirovozzrenchestva – very dangerous. That means make artificial model of their own ideas and information which are gathered from various sources. They invented the model can easily become a target for attack on homeopathy.

Especially dangerous if the homeopath uses anthropology advaita yoga or Steiner, and introduced into medical usage, or in homeopathic literature, terms such as “astral, mental etheric body” – thus introducing the human soul in some complex compounds of different natures and elements . This Transpersonal vocabulary is closely connected with the doctrine of reincarnation of the soul, and firmly established in the language of occult sects, especially the eastern direction.

Christianity teaches that the soul is a simple homogeneous substance and an indivisible monad. Generally, the soul is not subject to science, and faith.

Contributed by: (www.india-herbs.com) What is Ayurveda good for? The goal of Ayurvedic medicine is to prevent diseases before they occur. Studies have suggested that Ayurveda may be particularly effective at reducing the risk of heart disease. For example, a recent study found that this traditional Indian medicine helped reduce plaque and reverse the thickening of artery walls known as atherosclerosis in both healthy adults as well as adults at high risk for heart disease. (Atherosclerosis is a slow, complex disease in which fatty substances, cholesterol, cellular waste products, calcium, and other substances build up in the inner lining of an artery. This build-up, also known as plaque, can lead to heart attack and stroke.) Diagnosis Process The imbalance of doshas and the course they follow to cause disease is termed samprapti or pathogenesis. Since diseases develop in distinct stages, a good knowledge of those helps in early recognition of disease. Ayurveda thus elaborates a six stage process for diagnosis called Kriya (action) Kal (time). The first 4 stages being unique to Ayurveda in that they permit recognition and elimination of the disease before it ventures into differentiated clinical symptoms. One who knows the various stages of pathogenesis accumulation (sanchaya), provocation (prakopa) spread or migration (prasara), deposition or augmentation (sthana samshaya), manifestation (vyakti) and the differentiation (bheda) is entitled to be a physician. Protein Supplements Should Be Part Of Your Sports Nutrition

If you are one of those ill-witted who perceive athletes as gods who don’t need to stop to take in air, or to relax when there is need for relaxation, then perhaps it would be much of a disappointment to you to find out that athletes are not so different from those who are not athletes for they also make use of supplements to get them going.

It is part of their diet to take in supplements to have an enhancement of their endurance, and also to increase or, if not increase, maintain the appropriate muscle mass to be able to improve size and strength.

Protein supplements should be part of sports nutrition, without these said sports nutrition supplements; athletes would not be the way they are at present. However, contrary to what most people think, diets jam packed with protein do not necessarily build up muscle strength.

Building up muscle strength would be the job of regular physical activity. So if you want those big muscles you have to do exercises, not necessarily at gyms but could be also at your residences, daily. Doing so not by the day would not be producing the same result if you do so daily.

Sports nutrition supplements need high levels of protein, which you can get from protein-rich foods and enumerating all will be a total waste of space in this article.

But to enlighten you, here are a few of the foods that are rich in protein. There is fish, poultry and dairy products, and these are the foods you usually get your protein from because some sources of protein are high in fat and also in calories. So basically, you must take note which sources are high in fat and which are not.

Yeah, sports nutrition supplements sound so good but they can also put a strain on your liver and kidneys, which is the main reason why sports nutrition experts discourage taking them.

Some other sports nutrition supplements also have high amounts of nitrogen, which will only be excreted from your body as urea. But it is not as easy nor is it as safe as it sounds for this said excretion often causes fluid imbalance, which will then lead to dehydration.

There is also a higher risk of heart disease due to the high fat intake associated with sports nutrition supplements that have high amounts of protein from animal sources.

Another disadvantage of sports nutrition supplements is that there is a huge tendency that you will ingest amino acids that are capable of interfering with other amino acids, which will have a result of a metabolic imbalance.

Sports nutrition supplements that have high amounts of amino aids can also cause gout; diarrhea and stomach cramping that can rank from mild to severe pain.

Even if sports nutrition supplements are being discouraged by sports nutrition experts, Bricker Labs, a sports nutrition supplement manufacturer, still do a lot of advertising and manufacturing as well.

Bricker Labs has over thirty years to blame for their success in their provision of sports nutrition supplements. They do not apply to sports nutrition only too, but also to weight loss, diet, health and other nutritional aspects.

So if you have plans to take any kind of sports nutrition supplements, then Bricker Labs is probably the sports nutrition supplement manufacturer to trust. Why? It is because they use ingredients that are safer than what other sports nutrition supplements contain. What kind of ingredients, you ask?

They make use of the L-Carnitine, which is mainly there for weight loss, energy and also for having a healthy heart function; Colostrum, which gives your body a healthy immune system function and also gives your body an improved stamina and also for an easier recovery in almost all cases; Vandayl Sulfate, which is capable of growing your muscles and also has the ability to define your muscles; Protein, everyone knows what protein is for and that is for sports nutrition, and also for health and muscle growth.

Another is the Creatine, which is also for sports nutrition and muscle growth but it also involves bodybuilding this time; HCA or Garcinia Cambogia, for losing weight and suppressing your appetite; and last but certainly not the least, Vitamin B-12, this one is for overall health and nutrition.

So what more could you ask for? Sports nutrition supplements give you what you need, what your body needs and boosts your ego all the same time.

Diabetic test strips or Diabetic Meter and Lancets are part of a diabetic’s life

Diabetic meters, often called Self-Monitoring Blood Glucose (SMBG) tools, are small battery-operated devices that Diabetics use to measure their blood sugar levels. There are over 25 types of diabetes meters available. If you have been recently diagnosed with Diabetes and are now looking for the right meter for you, understanding how they work can help you make the best choice. Your doctor can also assist you in finding the perfect meter.

Lancing devices and lancets are used to get a drop of blood for blood sugar testing and monitoring. These tools pierce the finger and draw the blood to be tested. Below are a range of lancets that are less painful because the piercing device is very thin, polished, and spring-loaded.

Blood glucose test strips are part of the method that is used to measure blood glucose levels. The test strip is placed in a blood glucose meter to read your blood glucose levels by having blood dropped on them or drawn into them. Some of the blood glucose test strips below are meant to be paired with specific meters, while others can be paired with the meter of your choice. Now, some meters use blood sampling discs that are loaded once for multiple tests.

Blood Sugar Testing

Blood sugar testing and blood glucose monitors is important for diabetics because their bodies do not process blood sugars properly. Since a diabetic cannot break down sugar molecules, the sugar cannot be absorbed by the muscles and organs and stored for later use as energy. Learn more about sugar molecules interactively.

Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar)

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is a serious condition in which a person has a dangerously low amount of glucose in their bloodstream. Remember glucose is the fuel of the brain cells and the body’s cells. The real danger is the brain is running out of fuel. It will shut down if quick action is not taken. Many Diabetics are well aware of the risks and they use Diabetes Insulin Pump of having too much glucose in their blood stream (hyperglycemia), but some are unaware that having too little glucose is also dangerous.

Diabetic Coma

A Diabetic coma is a condition in which a diabetic lapses into a coma due to complications relating to diabetes. In most cases, low blood sugar is the primary reason why an otherwise health patient might lapse into a coma as a result of Diabetes. However, other conditions, such as ketoacidosis or nonketotic hyperosmolar coma occur.

Low Blood Sugar (Hypoglycemia)

Low blood sugar (also known as Hypoglycemia) is a condition found in Diabetics that is characterized by low blood glucose. When your blood sugar level drops well below normal, your muscles and brain are starving for the energy they get from glucose to function properly. Low blood sugar is most often a side effect of insulin and other Type 2 Diabetes medications.

Emergency Glucose/Glucagon Kits

All Diabetics that use insulin and diabetic strips, especially children with Type 1 Diabetes, should have access to an emergency glucose kit, also known as a Glucagon Emergency Kit. When a Diabetic misses a dose of insulin, takes too much insulin, or, for any reason, has a very low blood sugar level, the person can lose consciousness and go into shock.

Ayurvedic Treatment Saves 3 Time Stroke Patient (Part 4)

Contributed by: (www.india-herbs.com) What is a stroke? A stroke is serious – just like a heart attack. A stroke is sometimes called a “brain attack.” Most often, stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain stops because it is blocked by a clot. The brain cells in the immediate area begin to die because they stop getting the oxygen and nutrients they need to function. What causes a stroke? There are two kinds of stroke. The most common kind of stroke, called ischemic stroke, is caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs a blood vessel in the brain. The other kind of stroke, called hemorrhagic stroke, is caused by a blood vessel that breaks and bleeds into the brain. Know the Signs. Act in Time Stroke Symptoms  Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg (especially on one side of the body)  Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech  Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes  Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination  Sudden severe headache with no known cause Causes of stroke There are two main causes of stroke 1. The most common type of stroke is a blockage. This is called an ischaemic stroke, which happens when a clot blocks an artery that carries blood to the brain. It may be caused by: a cerebral thrombosis, when a blood clot (thrombus) forms in a main artery to the brain; a cerebral embolism, when a blockage caused by a blood clot, air bubble or fat globule (embolism) forms in a blood vessel somewhere else
